Cleaning Your House, Part One: Kitchen and Bathroom

Cleaning Your House, Part One: Kitchen and Bathroom

Let’s say that every room in your house is in desperate need of a deep clean.

Let’s say that every room in your home is in desperate need of a deep clean. The counters are crammed so full that there is no room for any workspace. The shelves are cluttered and disorganized. For these reasons, you never want anyone to visit. This can feed into loneliness and depression that can make life feel like it’s not worth it. But you don’t have to be too hard on yourself: you can enjoy where you live. Just start with the kitchen and bathroom first.

Cleaning the Kitchen: Deep Impact

Without a doubt, the kitchen is one of the most important parts of your home. But you always want to make a good first impression on your guests, especially if they have never visited before. Old friends and relatives may be unfazed by how messy it is, but that doesn’t mean you should surrender to feelings of not caring enough to do anything. Maybe they can help you, even if cleaning isn’t always the most fun way to pass an afternoon.

Granite countertops need to be wiped down to keep them clean. Water and some rubbing alcohol is a quick solution to getting rid of any stubborn stains. Plus it will evaporate quickly and not leave any sticky residue behind. Then, be sure to keep your cleaning tools clean. Sponges, washcloths, and rags can’t help you clean if they aren’t rinsed out and disinfected from time to time.

At the end of every week, clean up the microwave. That way, you won’t have to deal with residue from soups, pasta dishes, or any pizza you reheated and accidentally splattered inside. Water and vinegar will help you perform a deep clean. Finally, pay some attention to the fridge. Clear out old leftovers that are weeks past being any good. This will help you make room for new arrivals. Don’t forget to completely clean out the fridge’s interior surfaces once a month.

Cleaning the Bathroom: Quick Tips

Now that the kitchen is spotless, it’s time to move on. Cleaning up the bathroom is just as important. Clean the bathtub every week. After three uses, it’s time to wash a body towel. Make sure hand towels get swapped out, too.
