Now that June is here, we all want to keep our windows open as long as possible. Why rely on your air conditioning to keep you cool when a fresh breeze can do the same? Take a deep breath and enjoy the smell after a brisk afternoon rain. Here are some tips for keeping your windows clean all summer long.
Use Some Water
You might be inclined to use commercially-sold cleaning liquids that claim to brighten up your windows. They might help, at least for a little while. You need to think about the size of your home, because you can accomplish the same goal by using some warm, soapy water, a bucket, and a sponge or some other way to spread the water.
Make sure you clean both the inside of your windows and the outsides, otherwise neither side will look clean. Having a rag to wipe the windows dry is a good idea, too. A microfiber cloth is also another good tool to use. Just be sure to wait for a cloudy day to clean your windows – that way you won’t have to deal with the sun evaporating your water before you can get started!
Clean Out the Screens
Your window screens do a great job of keeping bugs out, but they’ll also quickly fill up with dirt, dust, pollen, and other allergens during the spring. These allergens will keep bothering you throughout the summer if you don’t do something about it. Once you clean the screens of your windows, you’ll be impressed by the dramatic improvement in your view outside. Take the screens down, rinse them with your garden hose, and then use a nylon brush and some of the same soap you used to clean the brush to clean your windows.
